The Poet and the Musician – D’Annunzio and Tosti
Isa Ercolano, soprano
Antonio Maione, piano
Malinconia
- Dorme la selva
- Quand’io ti guardo
- L’ora è tarda
- Or dunque addio!
- Chi sei tu che mi parli
Due piccoli notturni
- Van gli effluvi delle rose
- O falce di luna calante
Quattro canzoni d’Amaranta
- Lasciami! Lascia ch’io respiri
- L’alba separa dalla luce l’ombra
- In van preghi
- Che dici, o parola del Saggio?
Visione!…
Vorrei
Per morire
In 1880 the young Gabriele D’Annunzio, 17 years old at the time, met the already famous Francesco Paolo Tosti for the first time in the house of the painter Michetti. A few months later “Visione! …” was born. The composition marks the beginning of the collaboration between the two artists, both from Abruzzo, who will be linked by deep friendship until Tosti’s death in 1916. The programme is an anthological collection of the musical production by Tosti on written work by D’Annunzio, from some of his first lyrics to the cycles of maturity.
