Baroque Compass

Among the new international collaborations, the Baroque Compass project brings Béatrice Martin, a distinguished French harpsichordist, to Naples for a tribute to Scarlatti in the year of both Domenico and Alessandro’s commemorations, as well as to the composer José António Carlos de Seixas, a Portuguese heir to his musical influence. This project marks the beginning of an unprecedented partnership between the Gaudium Magnum Foundation – Maria and João Cortez de Lobão, the National Museum of Music in Mafra and Pietà de’ Turchini in Naples. The initiative aims to promote and disseminate Portuguese musical heritage, honoring Domenico Scarlatti’s influence at the court of King João V, as well as revealing unexpected links between past an present through the lens of contemporary composers, thus building a cultural bridge between Naples and Lisbon. Rotte Barocche will foster connections between the two countries, staging concerts, and conferences in each. For the recording of this programme, to be released under Turchini Records label, Béatrice Martin will play later this year in a historical harpsichord, classified as a “national treasure” in Portugal. The album will be launched in spring 2026.
