Timeless is a research project dedicated to Sound Art,conceived by theFondazione Pietà de’ Turchini with the artistic and scientific direction of Roberto Pugliese.
It springs from a vocation the Foundation has always held: to rebuild a collective memory through a contemporary sensibility. Its ambition is to reactivate the innovative drive that, from the sixteenth century and for at least three centuries, made Naples a European beacon for musical composition and training — thanks also to its system of Conservatories, which became an internationally recognised pedagogical model.
On these roots, Timeless builds a network devoted to the relationships between sound, space, technology and the visual arts: a lasting place where artists, students and different kinds of expertise meet, and where leading figures of the international scene take part in shared processes of research and production.
Timeless unfolds over three years as an international programme, poised between training and community.
Each year it offers free laboratories and workshops led by leading Italian and international teachers and artists in Sound Art. These pathways bring together acoustics, music computing and coding, and culminate in openings with live performances open to the city.
In the coming years the project will involve landmark institutions for Sound Art and the technological arts -the ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medien of Karlsruhe and Ars Electronica of Linz – with thel Conservatorio di Musica “San Pietro” a Majella of Naples.
